About us
Pomorskie Tourist Board (PTB) began its activity in November 2003. From the very beginning PTB has been located at Long Market Street 8-10 in Gdansk. At present the chairman of the association has been Mrs. Marta Chełkowska, the head of Tourism Department in the Office of the Marshal of Pomorskie Voivodeship. The director of PTB’s office is Mr. Wojciech Kreft.
At the beginning PTB was established by 23 organizations and later on this group expanded to over 80 institutions: Local Tourist Organizations, territory governments, local entrepreneurs, associations and other institutions working in the field of tourism industry in the Pomorskie region (Pomorskie Voivodeship).
The main role of our organization is to develop tourism in the Pomorskie region and to organize the cooperation between all individual tourist institutions. Our main duties are: promotion of general tourist information such as maps, brochures etc., organization of tourist exhibitions, study tours and study presses. PTB offers the possibility of extra contribution for different projects aiming at the development of tourism.
According to the „Strategy for development of tourism in Pomorskie Voivodeship in the period of 2004-2013”. Pomorskie Tourist Board is being responsible for seven of the operation projects pointed out by the strategy. The activities include promotion of tourism, particularly in Pomorskie Region, improvement of the Tourist Information network, preparation and implementation of trainings and support of the development of tourist products. One of the priority activities of PTB is cooperation with Local Tourist Organizations.
Since 2004 PTB has taken the responsibility for the tourist promotion of the region from the Office of the Marshal of the Pomorskie Voivodeship: promotional events, realization of tourist fairs, study tours and study press, promotional publications, preparation of cultural events calendar and others. In many of the actions PTB cooperates with Polish Tourist Organization (POT) and its departments outside Poland.
